A Fresh Start for Our Moken Children in Their New Home
We are excited to announce that we have officially moved into our newly expanded home!
After acquiring our MRF office in Bangnon last year, we saw a perfect opportunity to give our Moken
children a more comfortable, supportive home closer to their schools on the mainland. With long-time
house mother, P’Phrong, returning to Bangkok to work full-time with Mercy Centre, it was time for a fresh
start.
What’s in our new home? A spacious living room, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms with showers and toilets, a
big bright kitchen/dining room, a classroom for study sessions, a laundry area and an office which can
be converted in a sleeping area for a volunteer. In addition, there is a large, covered outdoor sitting area
for alfresco meals and gatherings.

Right now, 10 Moken children from the islands of Koh Lao, Koh Chang, and Koh Payam live in the
house, ranging in age from 9 to 21 years old. They’re cared for by our wonderful house parents, Kratai
and Youi, who live on-site full-time. While there’s room for a few more, the children are already
loving their new home — especially the bunk beds, which are a first for many of them.

An added bonus? The house is just a short distance from two of the schools our children attend. Only
the two girls at Pak Nam School need a short ride each day with Lung Chay.
We’re also grateful for our generous neighbours — local farmers who often treat the children to fresh
fruits like mangosteens, bananas, and even durian (a beloved delicacy among the kids!).
